About my classes:

Whether you are looking for cultivation of stillness or a class to raise your energy, I have a range of offerings to target improvement of your vitality. My classes include both subtle and invigorating movement balanced with pranayama (meditation and breath work) for a fully immersive mind-body experience. Gentle, Nidra, and Restorative classes call forth a slower pace to down-regulate the nervous system for reduced stress and deeper rest. My flow classes emphasize a faster pace to facilitate invigoration, strength, and stamina building. All classes are trauma informed.

Classes take place on Whidbey Island and online.

About Me:

My name is Alisa and I am a Clinical Psychologist who has been in private practice for 10 years. As far as we have come with reuniting the bifurcated mind and body, we still have a long way to go. I am interested in teaching yoga to others to cultivate a better relationship with their own bodies including decreased suffering from injuries and to integrate mind and body for improved wellbeing.

I have been practicing yoga of different types (Ashtanga, Bikram, Hatha) on and off for over 20 years. I completed my 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training at 8 Limbs Yoga and graduated not only a yoga teacher but a better human. As a Clinical Psychologist, I have been teaching mindfulness to individuals and groups since 2009.

As a member of the human race and practitioner of psychology, I noticed that many of us in Western culture are disembodied – we walk around as human doings rather than human beings. We predominantly inhabit states of intellectualization, analysis, and judgment. Often, our bodies are vehicles we use to fulfill our to-do lists. Conversely embodiment allows us to step into relationship with our body to:

  • cultivate compassion and appreciation for all that our bodies allow us to experience

  • increase awareness to sensations including pain, pleasure, needs, and desires

  • increase connection to our inner voice or wise mind

  • to cultivate a more integrated, vibrant, and authentic path forward.
